OUR PURPOSE
Samta foundation endeavours to provide free health and social care even to the most neglected part of the society – the inmates in Maharashtra prisons. Making sure even if they have committed a crime, they are not deprived of their basic human rights of health and hygiene in the prisons.
Samta Foundation thus has a very humanitarian approach and outlook towards the prisoners by providing necessary eyecare, skin care and women personal hygiene products to them. Apart from health services, the Foundation also works hand in hand with the state judiciary system by helping those who are granted bail but cannot afford to pay thereby releasing under-trial prisoners back to the society.
In addition, the Foundation also provides sporting equipments, books for the library and televisions to keep the prisoners occupied and mentally stimulated. This has reduced instances of fighting among the inmates as they have activities to pass time and channelize their energy.
