HOW IT STARTED?
Mr. Madhusudan Agrawal has been a keen supporter of the Ghadge Maharaj Dharamshala activities. The Dharamshalas provided accommodation to poor people visiting cities for medical treatment. He observed the dilapidated condition of the dharamshala as they did not collect enough funds for maintenance. He immediately renovated the 3 Dharamshalas attached to JJ Hospital & St. George Hospital in Mumbai & Government Medical College in Aurangabad. He also started a common kitchen where meals are prepared and offered at highly subsidised rates. This restricted people from cooking food in their rooms that generated smoke and carried fire risks.
In the meanwhile, Dr. Kailash Bhaviskar of Civil Hospital Aurangabad suggested providing free shelters to the poor patients & their families. During the patients stay in the hospital, the accompanying relatives had to wait outside in the open near the hospitals, suffering in the scorching sun, chilling cold or heavy rains. The Foundation then initiated the construction of shelters at the hospitals with proper cleaning & maintenance routine.
