HOW IT STARTED?
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons, Pune region, Ms. Swati Sathe brought to the Foundation’s attention, the severe lack of hygienic conditions for female prisoners in Maharashtra. The team learnt that prisoners are not provided with sanitary products as the supplies are erratic and never enough. The Foundation therefore commenced providing free sanitary napkins to women prisoners on a monthly basis. The activity has since been expanded to cover all the women prisoners across Maharashtra and is scheduled to start in the State of Madhya Pradesh in late 2018.
